The combination of art and technology can lead to interesting innovations. Kitty Yeung, Manager of the Microsoft Garage at Silicon Valley, talked about how she infuses technology in fashion. Kitty explained how to embed technology in clothing and the challenges faced by the fashion industry. We also talked about tools and open source projects in hardware.
Kitty’s early career was in conducting research in condensed matter physics while also pursuing painting, music, and creating graphic design novels. She received her Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Harvard University and a M.Sci., B.A. and M.A. in Natural Sciences from University of Cambridge. After grad school, she worked as a research scientist, hardware engineer and user experience designer at Intel.
